Why are you a member of the WWF?

There have been phenomenal women in my life that have paved the way for me to reach new heights and aspirations. Becoming a member of this great cause is an opportunity to pay it forward, to say thank you.

What are you most looking forward to about being on the committee?

To continue the great work of the passionate women who established this fund and to help work towards their vision to create opportunities for women and girls in the Waikato.

What has been a special moment you've experienced through the work of the WWF?

I had the privilege of attending the Waahine Toa:Wisdom Shared event in March 2020.  It was a fantastic event.  There was a moment when Dr Karlo Mila was sharing her poem about women and some of their struggles and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. As I looked around, I knew I wanted to be part of this powerful effort to empower others.

  • Local Waikato cafe you'll be found in? You’ll find me at Kahurangi Café (aka Stacey’s) on the Village Green at the University of Waikato. It’s a beautiful spot to enjoy a Cinnamon Cappuccino.

  • Who is an inspirational woman you look up to? There are many inspirational women, but none more than my mum.  She is the bravest woman I know with unbelievable strength and resilience; she always surprises me with what she is capable of, especially when it comes to her family.

  • Recommended book/movie/Ted Talk about women: How Women Rise by Sally Helgesen

  • Favourite place to visit in the Waikato: Hakarimatas

  • Hidden talent? During lockdown I discovered the game Candy Crush – getting those lollies to line up so it forms a liquorice ball is now my special talent.
